Why The Box costs more than Honeycomb Cloud. Running Honeycomb in your environment means we package, size, install, security review, and upgrade it inside infrastructure we do not operate day to day. That is significant dedicated engineering time, so every box is scoped and priced per engagement. Smaller boxes need less hardware and less setup.

What is The Box?

The Box is Honeycomb packaged to run in your own cloud account or on your own servers. It contains everything needed for the option you choose: Honeycomb's models, the vision and language models that read menu files, the processing pipeline and API, and for the Complete box, the admin dashboard and guest menu apps.

Which box should we choose?

Complete if you want all of Honeycomb inside your walls. Pipeline if you have your own apps and only need menu processing. Compact if you already have an approved language model and want a smaller footprint. Core if you only need Honeycomb's food intelligence models behind an API.

Where can The Box run?

In your own AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure account, in your own data center, or at an air gapped site. Complete, Pipeline, and Core can run with no internet access. Compact can too, as long as your language model is also inside your network.

How is The Box delivered and updated?

As signed container images with a Helm chart or Terraform module. We install it with your team, and new models and releases arrive as signed packages you schedule and install. Air gapped sites get offline update bundles.

Can Honeycomb see our data?

No. The Box runs in infrastructure you control. We only get access you grant for installation or support, and you can revoke it at any time.

How much does The Box cost?

It is priced per engagement. Running Honeycomb in your environment takes significant dedicated engineering time for packaging, sizing, installation, security review, and supported upgrades, so it costs more than Honeycomb Cloud. Smaller boxes need less hardware and less setup.
